A two-year fellowship is available at the Department of Plant Biomolecules and Biotechnology (EA2106 BBV), University of Tours, France, from January 2021. This fellowship is open to Post-Doctoral researchers and for this project, you will work under the supervision of Dr. Vincent Courdavault (

The proposed Project

The recruited candidate will be involved in an exciting research program funded by the Région Centre-Val de Loire and focusing on the elucidation of the biosynthetic pathway of highly valuable plant natural products with a particular emphasize on lignans. The candidate will carried out the RNA-sequencing and genome sequencing of several lignan-producing plants. By conducting an extensive analysis of these newly developed datasets (gene coexpression networks, gene clustering for instance), the recruited researcher will predict candidate genes involved in lignan biosynthesis. These genes will be further validated by functional genomic and biochemical approaches performed in close collaboration with other post-docs from this project in charge of the transferring the whole in microbiological cell factories.  The recruited researcher will also benefit from the expertise of several assistant professors and other post-docs from EA2106 with recognized skills/experience in the study of the NP biosynthesis/metabolic engineering.

The BBV Laboratory

The BBV laboratory (EA2106) from the University of Tours studies plant specialized metabolisms by combining both metabolomics and transcriptomics approaches. Besides unraveling biosynthetic pathways, our goal is to provide alternative supply of plant natural products by creating microbiological cell factories. Our english-speaking lab offers all facilities (computing grids, LC-MS/MS, greenhouses, confocal microscope) to achieve and efficient research and benefits from funds from the European H2020 program, the French Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) and from regional research programs.
